The philosophy behind Training of Mars was developed by learning to profile people, after working with people for many years. The founder of Training of Mars is Marcel den Boer. Many years of work experience in Defence, justice and as a security trainer within aviation has resulted in his own approach of training in profiling and defensibility.

The training we offer are valuable for people who work in various business sectors. The goal is to create a feeling of safety, and above all to teach how to be aware of the environment we are in.

Profilling and defensibility

Training of Mars offers different types of training:

Profiling

Profiling

The term ‘profiling’ is used for many purposes, for example to identify characteristics of possible terrorists, but also street cameras and footage being used by Justice are amongst profiling.

If we cut loose the association with difficult systems such as camera surveillance and technical profiling, we can simplify the term to human observation. We are constantly aware of our environment. A gut feeling is something that, most of the time, seems to be true when the damage is done: the pickpocket did succeed, the shoplifter ran off with the loot, or a passenger who endangers the flight safety.

The training is meant to make people aware of the environment they are in. Whether this is at work or at home, people are taught to ‘read’ behavior and to react adequately.

Defensibility

Defensibility

Besides profiling, Training of Mars also offers training in defensibility. Research shows that more and more people don’t feel safe in certain situations – both at work or privately. This unsafe feeling can be reduced by training defensibility: people will feel more certain and will also show this to others.

It is with reason we don’t use the ‘aggression training’ term, since the goal is to react de-escalating to verbal and physical violence. It is possible to use professional actors to make the training as realistic as possible.
